Lady Macbeth: Then and Now

Then:

A little water clears us of this deed. How easy it is, then! (2.2.82-83)

Now:

What, will these hands ne’er be clean? (5.1.45)

Before, Lady Macbeth was calm, cool, and collected saying how a little water will take the guilt right off our hands, no problem.

Now, Lady Macbeth is freaking out that the blood isn’t coming off, much like Macbeth was.

Then:

Get on your nightgown, lest occasion call us and show us to be watchers. (2.2.90-91)

Now:

Wash your hands. Put on your nightgown. Look not so pale. (5.1.66-67)

Before, Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth to put on his nightgown and go to sleep so that they look to be surprised.

Later, Lady Macbeth is more commanding in her tone and maybe even a little more worried.
